though和although都可以作“虽然”讲，区别在哪里呢？

though和although

我们首先来看看它们的共同点。

though 和 although 都可以引导让步状语从从句。都作“虽然”讲，都不能和 but 连用，但可以同 yet/ still 连用。

eg: Although /Though she was poor, she wanted to buy that dress.

尽管她很贫穷，但是她还是想买那件礼服。

Though she was poor, ( yet ) she wanted to buy that dress.

尽管她很贫穷，然而她还是想买那件礼服。

Although she was poor, she ( still ) wanted to buy that dress. 尽管她很贫穷，她依然还是想买那件礼服。

though和although 两者的重要区别有四点：

①　although比though更为正式，语气比较重，但是though的使用更普遍，更口语化。

②　在固定搭配中，though不可以替换成although。though可用于even though,as though,what though等结构;而although不能。

eg: I will have a try even though I should fail. 哪怕失败，我也要试一下。

③　两者引导的从句中，although常指实际发生的事情； though常常指的是假设或设想。

eg: He would not leave her though he should be angry with his girl-friend. 就算他对他的女朋友生气，他也不会丢下她。（假设）

He didn&39;t leave her although he was angry with his girl-friend. 虽然他对他的女朋友生气，他也不会丢下她。（实际发生）

④　though可以放在句首·句中·句尾，但是although可放在句首或句中，不能在句末

eg: Jim should not do it, Lily could though. 虽然Jim不能做这件事，但Lily还是能做好.
