如何“预测”

[策略介绍]

我们学习一种阅读策略--预测（prediction）。在细读某一篇文章前，我们可以先通过文章的标题、插图或者第一段的开头几句来预测文章的主要内容、判断文章的体裁和题材或预测即将出现的信息。

[技巧1]通过标题预测

请根据标题：Modern dentists: How can they help you? 判断下列哪些选项与文章内容有关系 A. Your teeth were hurt by the dentist.

B. Dentists have many new machines.

C. Dentists want everyone to have healthy teeth.

D. A nurse cleans your teeth at the dentist’s.

E. Some dentists will pull out all your teeth.

解析：根据标题中的“How can they help you?”可推测出文章内容应侧重介绍现代的牙医“怎样”为病人治疗，只有D项和E项与此有关。

[技巧2] 通过标题判断文章体裁

According to the title “Modern dentists: How can they help you?”, what kind of text is it?

A. Fiction. B. Report. C. Magazine / Newspaper article.

解析：可明显看出A项错误，与B项相比，C项更具体准确。

[技巧3] 通过开头几句话预测下文所述内容

读下面的句子，从所给的三项预测中选择正确的选项。

“Eat at Jack’s Diner! We serve breakfast from 6 to 10.”

A. No one likes the breakfast at Jack’s Diner.

B. The breakfast is too expensive.

C. The food is delicious and the service is good.

解析：根据头两句：“请到Jack餐厅来！我们从早上六点到十点提供早餐。”可推断出这是一则广告, 由此我们可以预测这则广告的下文可能会出现一些具体的有关食物或价钱的内容。因此，只有选项C是正确的。
