Jostling your way through the kids huddling around and watching two pet parrots and one pet hamster in cages, you got to the front. I explained to you the creatures, trying to free your chatterbox within. You darted quick quick glances first at me and then at other kids. Just before you were bold enough to talk, you hung your head, chickening out. You remained as silent as fish, picking your fingertips, in stark contrast to your rowdy peers around. You had a humbled look in your eyes, obviously gripped by diffidence. As in many previous similar situations where other kids had something you didn\'t, you stuck around for more time to gawk at the thing, striking both mummy and me as being pitiably withdrawn. That\'s beginning to get on our nerves.

几个孩子围着笼子中的两个鹦鹉和一个仓鼠看，你急切地挤过去来到笼子旁边。我跟你说那俩是鹦鹉，还有一个是仓鼠，希望能帮你把你的话匣子挑开。你仰头看了我一眼，又扫了一眼别的孩子。你就是没胆量说话。你低下头，胆怯的样子，比鱼还安静，抠着手指，跟周围叽叽喳喳的孩子完全不同。你的眼神中流露出来的是卑微、胆怯。有很多次了，每当别的孩子有而你没有的东西，你就黏在旁边不肯离去，就想多看几眼那东西。妈妈和我都旁边看着，觉得你那卑微的样子，太可怜了。这已经让我们感到不安了。

You don\'t need to have all the material things others have. Be aware you might have something intellectual others don\'t have and will never have in their lifetime. So you don\'t need to sell yourself short. After you attain adulthood, you can try to be a demure girl, but in no way should you humble yourself, putting yourself at the mercy of others\' likes and dislikes. Be a confident girl you are back home.

物质的东西，别人有的，你不必一定要有。你要知道你有你的能力，这种能力也许别人就没有甚至一辈子都甭想有。所以你不必这么看扁了自己。长大后你可以谦虚，但那不等于卑微地活着，不等于非要事事都非要为了别人的脸色喜好活着。既然在家里那么自信，到了外面也应该自信。
