新型冠状病毒肺炎是近百年来人类遭遇的影响范围最广的全球性大流行病，对全世界是一次严重危机和严峻考验。人类生命安全和健康面临重大威胁。面对突如其来的严重疫情，党中央统揽全局、果断决策，以非常之举应对非常之事。党中央坚持把人民生命安全和身体健康放在第一位。在党中央的坚强领导下，全国有效遏制了疫情大面积蔓延，最大限度保护了人民生命安全和身体健康。
