“清明节”用英语怎么表达？

“清明”最常用的就是以下这两种表达方式，一种是清明的拼音加上节日的英语，属于直译；一种是意译Tomb-sweeping，原为祭扫的意思。

01.Commemorate

缅怀、纪念

单词“commemorate”的意思是“在公开场合或活动中以某种特殊的形式缅怀、纪念某人”。

例句：

People have put flowers and cards in the park to commemorate the victims.

人们在这座公园献上了花束和卡片，以緬怀遇难者。

02.In memory/remembrance of

以纪念，以缅怀

表达“in memory of someone、in remembrance of someone”的意思是“向逝者表达纪念、缅怀之情”。英语单词“memory”指“记忆”，而“remembrance”的含义是 “回忆、怀念” 。

例句：

The temple was built in memory of one of our ancestors.

这座庙是为了纪念我们的一个祖先而建造的。

03.Honour the memory of

緬怀

单词“honour”做动词，意思是“对…表示尊敬”。所表达“honour the memory of someone”的含义就是“纪念、緬怀”。

例句：

We are gathered here to honour the memory of the heroes whose lives were lost in the great fire.
